This year my family has had to work through quite a few challenging issues. My youngest son experienced the death of a classmate and football teammate. The family dog got sick and had to be put down, plus numerous serious illnesses. The most recent my wife’s one week stay in the hospital. Even my wife’s mother had surgery this past week.
Did my life just sound like a country music song?
All kidding aside, it was tough. I kept thinking during the summer, that I should have a lot to be thankful for at Thanksgiving. And you know what? I was right.
I do have a lot to be thankful for.
I sometimes hear clients complain about politics, the economy and the stock market. In America, yes you can actually start a business, invest money in the market and complain about politicians without fear of repercussions!
As investors, we have a lot to be thankful for. Right now the market has enjoyed a pretty solid year, taxes are relatively low, and we, as a country have an improving economy.
The big one that we all have to be thankful for? Personal liberty.
Be thankful for all those things we take for granted like, freedom, health, prosperity, peace and free speech. That is what I think Thanksgiving is all about.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
